Dr Larisa Han MB, BS (London 1995), DRCOG, DFFP, MRCGP, BSc, DCH, DPD

Having graduated from UCL and Larisa did her house jobs in Reading and Dorset. Her GP training hospital rotation was at the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading and my GP training year in Reading too. Larisa has been a salaried, locum, and a retainer GP and has been a partner at Merrow Park Surgery in Guildford for 7 years. She is particularly involved in the management of the practice and has a special interest in Dermatology and work one session a week as a GPwSI in Guildford.

Larisa has been involved in medical politics since her GP training. She was elected Deputy Chair of the Surrey LMC last April. As part of her role of deputy chair of Surrey LMC, she sits on a committee of federations of 5 LMCs including East/ West Sussex, Richmond/Kingston and Croydon. Larisa attends the LMC conferences each year to debate the future of general practice.

At a local level in Guildford, Larisa represents the LMC/GPs and is involved in regular meetings with the G&W CCG, public health and also meets with the local GP federation. This is to shape local policy and negotiate contracts on behalf of the local GPs. She has been involved in developing an integrated care pathway for elderly patients, bringing together social services, secondary care, mental health services, voluntary sector and primary care. The aim is to reduce admissions, enable patients to live healthier and longer at home with reduced need for care but enabling better support networks.

The NHS is in challenging times. Larisa is passionate about enabling the NHS to provide the best care possible within its limited resources. Caring for an ageing population means changing the way services are provided. She wants to be involved in shaping the changes to protect patients and enable services to provide excellent care which is individual and appropriate for each patient.
