Dr Marianne Illsley MB BS MA MRCP FRCR

Marianne has worked as a Clinical Oncology Consultant, specialising in treatment of lung and oesophagogastric cancers, at the Royal Surrey County Hospital, Guildford, since 2000.

She has held various clinical management roles during this time, including Radiotherapy Lead, Chair of the Network Lung Cancer Site Specific Group, Clinical Director for St. Luke's Cancer Centre, and Trust Cancer Lead.

Marianne has participated widely in Cancer Networks, working alongside commissioning colleagues, and have also have worked at all three cancer units served by the St Luke's Cancer Centre (Frimley Park, Ashford/St Peter's and Surrey/Sussex Hospitals, and have participated in the National Cancer Peer Review programme, reviewing cancer services in Trusts across the South of England. More recently, as Deputy Medical Director she has developed a broader interest in clinical governance, and she is the mortality lead for the Trust.

Marianne strongly believes that the planning of healthcare benefits from committed involvement from clinicians, working alongside managerial colleagues, and is a strong advocate of medical leadership. She is also committed to improving equity of access to excellent quality care across the SEC population, in all fields of medicine, and is keen to contribute to optimisation of services for patients in the region.
